Lloyds to spin off billions in property assets

Son of a London cabbie, Lee McQueen ? rechristened Alexander, as in “Alexander the Great”, by his patron and mentor the late Isabella Blow ? started his career working as a trainee tailor at Anderson & Sheppard, then Gieves & Hawkes on Savile Row. Royalty were among the clientele, and McQueen later claimed that he had sewed a few choice words into the inside lining of the Prince of Wales’s lapel while constructing one of his jackets in the workroom.

McQueen found dead on eve of his mother’s funeral

Thomas George Jones, footballer: born Connah’s Quay, Flintshire 12 October 1917; played for Everton 1936-50; married (two daughters); died Ysbyty Ifan, Conwy 3 January 2004.

The second World War probably stopped the footballer T. G. Jones from becoming a household name, yet among his peers the North Wales-born centre-half was a true colossus. Tommy Jones won a Football League championship medal with Everton in 1939, and 17 caps for Wales, but his greatest accolades came from his team-mates and opponents.
